When you request a quote for charcoal briquettes, you will see a short list of numbers. Knowing what each one means makes it far easier to compare suppliers on equal terms.
Ash content is the residue left after burning. Lower is better; most serious buyers want under 2.5%, and many ask for under 2%. Fixed carbon tells you how much of the briquette is pure combustible carbon, which drives heat and burn time. Calorific value, measured in kcal/kg, is the raw energy the briquette releases.
Finally, burning time and moisture round out the picture. A briquette with 60 to 90 minutes of burn and low moisture will light reliably and last through a full session. Ask every supplier for a Report of Analysis so the numbers are verified, not just claimed.
